Blackdot AU Graduate Program a Massive Success

Earlier this year, Blackdot AU kicked off an internal graduate program aimed at on-boarding high caliber, ambitious graduates who were willing to seize the growth opportunity and learn while on the job.

The program started with the business exhibiting at two of Sydney’s most prestigious universities – The Sydney University and The University of NSW. Blackdot team members from various operating units took turns to meet and greet throngs of enthusiastic students interested in management consulting. As a result, over 200 students submitted an expression of interest to work at the marketing and sales consultancy.

The intensive recruitment process that followed was an interesting combination of traditional cognitive assessments and modern speed dating style interviews. These were followed up by a case study session, and rounded off with a presentation in front of a Blackdot panel. All-in-all, a very challenging and exciting interview process, and one that Blackdot stands behind in their quest to hire the very best talent out there.

The graduate program has delivered great success with three graduates and two interns being hired since the drive started. Two of the interns will join in July and a third graduate will join early in 2018. The feedback from the graduate program has been extremely positive from both company and interviewees, with the level of interaction throughout the process being flagged as a particular highlight. Many of the interviewed graduates felt that the activities were unlike any other programs or interview processes they had encountered and said that they were able to gain valuable insight into company culture very early in the process.

Two of the new hires shared their experiences so far:

Graduate - Genevieve Marsh, who started working at Blackdot two months ago and has already been on her first interstate job, said, “The people at Blackdot make the company a wonderful place to work. It’s a dynamic, challenging and inclusive work place and I am thrilled to begin my career here.”

Intern - Dayanan Mahen, who will be leaving briefly for a short international exchange program then returning to work at Blackdot said, “The opportunity Blackdot has provided me has been exceptional. Rotating through all aspects of the business, I have been fortunate to learn from highly talented individuals, giving me opportunities to grow and evolve within the business.”

The graduate program will continue running in partnership with INSEAD and AGSM in Australia but also in EMEA, where Blackdot will partner with Reading University, Warwick Business School and the University of Coventry to hire the most promising talent they have to offer.
